The UMW Foundation
The UMW Foundation, a not-for-profit 501(c)(3), serves as the private asset manager for the University of Mary Washington.
The sole purpose of the University of Mary Washington Foundation is to support the vision and mission of the University of Mary Washington. Located in Fredericksburg, Virginia, the Foundation is organized and operated to receive, hold, invest, administer and distribute funds and property of all kinds, exclusively in support of the educational activities and objectives of the University of Mary Washington.
In furtherance of this mission, the Foundation supports the Advancement and Alumni Engagement teams efforts to engage and solicit donors at all levels. Additionally, the UMW Foundation will receive and accept gifts, bequests and other direct or indirect contributions of money and other property, absolutely or in trust, tangible or intangible, real, personal or mixed, and wherever located, from the general public, including individuals, corporations, and other entities and sources. The Foundation and its Board of Trustees also administers, manages, invests and reinvests such money and property, and applies and expends the principal, income and proceeds for the benefit of the University of Mary Washington.
