At any given time, the UMW Foundation is the recipient of gifts of real estate which are to be either held or sold for the benefit of the University. Proceeds from the sale of such properties are then designated by the donor(s) for a specific project or purpose. In accordance with the Gift Acceptance Policy, all gifts of real estate must be reviewed and accepted by the UMW Foundation Board or Executive Committee.

Current Real Estate Holdings Include:
- 600 acres of undeveloped land in Stafford County Virginia – currently under a contract of sale.
- 37 acres of undeveloped land in King George County Virginia.
- The Valade Bird Sanctuary in King George County – a conservation property used by the University for the study of migratory birds.
- Two properties located at 1512 William Street and 1201 William Street which are used by the University.
Construction Projects Completed by the UMW Foundation
When requested by the University, The UMW Foundation will occasionally serve as the project manager and financier for special construction projects. One of these projects was the 110,000 sf University Center on the UMW campus. This $58 million project was completed on time and was opened to students in the fall of 2015.
